The Furman Paladins Women’s basketball (1-0) tonight takes on their instate coemption in the Erskine Flying Fleet (0-0) in its home away from at North Greenville.

The Paladins go into the first period with a 23-13 lead after a fast start, but the Fleet fly back into the game and make it close. Paladins have looked better, defense has been on point for the most part, and offense has also been better than last year. Both teams are fighting the early season mishaps so far.

It is 37-13 with 4 minutes left in the half and Furman defense has turned it on as well as its offense. Coach Curtis has this team working well together regardless of the players on the court. We get to halftime and the Women’s team has a 47-16 lead and have really been passing and shooting well. Furman shooting 50% at FG, 40% from 3 point range, 14 rebounds, and 21 points off turnovers.

We head into the final period with Furman with a commanding lead and shutting down the Fleet offense tonight. Erskine has tried everything to get back in this game, but Furman has shut them down while hitting great shots all night with multiple lineups.

The Furman Women’s basketball team ends the game scoring 100 points in a 100-31 route of Erskine in its home opener at North Greenville Haynes Gym. The Lady Paladins scored 23 in the first, 24 in the second, 24 again in the third and 29 in the fourth period. Leading scorers was Niveya Henley with 24 points going 3-6 from 3-point range, with 3 rebounds, Tate Walters and Sydney Ryan both scoring 13 points. Clare Coyle took in a huge 12 rebounds and scored 8 points, and Bella LaChance had 8 assists in the winning effort. Furman was 40% from 3-point range, 51% from FG range, and 62% from FT line.
