1st Half Highlights
Wofford strikes first with a 3 pointer first and, a lid seems to be on the basket for Furman. After a missed Furman shot, Wofford strikes again to go up 6-0. As we move along in the first half, the lid still remains on the rim for the Paladins as Wofford gets out to 13-4 lead with 15:28 to go first half. House with a 3 for the Dins, and a follow up 2 pointer brings it to 13-9 with 14:48 to go. Referees issue a warning to the players to stop locking elbows around each other’s arms. Paladins seem to be able to play some defense but points still elude them as Vanderwall misses 2 free throws with 9 minutes to go. Score is 24-13. Furman is shooting 12.5% from 3-point range currently. Wofford is up to a 32-14 lead with 5:24 remaining first half while outrebounding Furman 22-14. Winding down the first half, score is Wofford 40-17 over Furman. Wofford has looked more like the NCAA tournament team thus far. Charles Johnston, hits a bounce around 3 pointer to end the half, Wofford leads 40-20. Furman shoots just 11.8% from 3-point range as Wofford shoots 26.3% and 42.1% overall. Furman will need a heck of a comeback next half.
2nd Half Highlights
Wofford continues to dominate opening the 2nd half on a 10-7 run to maintain a lead of 50-27. Furman goes full court pressure down 50-29 but Wofford gets the ball downcourt and makes a 3 pointer. Score is 53-34 with 15:15 left to go in the 2nd half. Things get a bit chippy download between Furman and Wofford as Wofford increases their lead to 61-36 with 11:30 to go in the 2nd half. Furman has a huge hole to climb out of with 0 players scoring in double figures yet in this game. Player coaching player moment as Furman tries to force a turnover by Mauldin but Bronson was chasing the offense down the court. This has been the Kyler Filewich show for Wofford in the paint and easy buckets. Backups are into the game for Wofford as they lead 79-59 with under 2 minutes to go 2nd half.
