Paladins Men’s Basketball keeps momentum rolling with 3rd straight win in blowout at VMI

The Furman Paladins Men’s basketball squad traveled to Lexington, VA on Wednesday evening where they faced the Virginia Military Institute (or, VMI) Keydets in regular season Southern Conference action.

The Paladins (9-9, 3-2) rolled to a 100-60 blowout win as the Keydets (3-15, 0-5) simply couldn’t keep pace with the suddenly hot Paladins.

Since starting 6-9 and 0-2 in SoCon play, the Paladins have come alive, winning their last three games, all of which have been conference games. Furman currently sits in a tie for 5th place in the conference, but there’s a lot of life left in this season and the Paladins have all the momentum in the world.

Forward Alex Williams led the Paladins with 23 points while point guard Carter Whitt came up with 21 points of his own. Forward Marcus Foster paced Furman on the boards with a 18 point/10 rebound double double while forward Tyrese Hughey and guard JP Pegues tied for the team high with five assists each.

VMI’s Tyran Cook and Stephen Olowoniyi tied for the Keydet team high in scoring with 14 points apiece while Taeshaud Jackson paced the Keydets on the boards with a team high 13 rebounds.

Furman will return to action this weekend, hosting Western Carolina in Timmons Arena at 2 PM EST on Saturday afternoon. For more coverage of Furman athletics, be sure to follow the Furman Joust Podcast on Twitter/X, or explore our website at furmanjoust.com.
