Furman Women's Soccer

Furman Paladins Women’s Soccer (2-4-0) picked a much-needed victory on the road Sunday afternoon to stop its 4-game losing streak. Though three of the losses were to power 4 programs in Duke, Clemson, and USC, Furman has been battling tough each week with a team missing several of its top name stars. This hasn’t stopped Coach Burr and his team from giving a great effort and playing with a chip on its shoulders.

The only score of the game was with 19 minutes left in the first half Maddie Massie, a sophomore hit a sliding pass to Ashlyn Goila who redirected it into the goal past the GSU Goalkeeper. The goal was her first of the season and held up to be enough to get the Paladins the win and a feel-good bus ride home to Greenville. During these past few weeks with so many players out, Coach Burr has been building depeth, and preparing for SoCon play coming up soon. Up next is UNC Asheville Thursday at 7pm at Stone Stadium, so make sure you come out and support Furman Women’s Soccer.
