Furman Women’s Soccer takes down VMI 3-1 on the road

The Furman Paladins Women’s soccer squad got their third Southern Conference victory against VMI in Lexington, VA on Thursday evening, pushing their overall record to 6-4-5 and their SoCon record to 2-1-4.

While the final score indicated a controlling Paladin win, the game itself was actually quite close throughout.

In the 32nd minute of the contest, the Paladins leaped ahead 1-0 behind a goal from Noemi Casique at the 31:36 mark.

Not to be outdone, VMI quickly tied the game, as Riley Boucher punched it into the back of the net to even the score at the 40:38 mark.

It took nearly 40 minutes for another score from either team, but the Paladins punched in the go ahead goal with a score from Maddie Massie at the 76:25 mark.

Furman added insurance to their newly minted one point lead with lightning speed, as Noemi Casique found the back of the net for the 2nd time exactly one minute after Furman’s go-ahead goal at the 77:25 mark.

Furman goalkeeper Addison Corn finished with 3 saves while only allowing one goal while VMI goalkeeper Jillian Hall finished with 6 saves while allowing 3 goals in total.

The Paladins will return home to Greenville for a Senior Night SoCon match with Mercer on Sunday.
