The Furman Lady Paladins Basketball (12-11, 2-5) square off with the UNC Greensboro Spartans at Timmons arena tonight, as the Women’s team looks to stop the 2-game losing streak and get back on the winning path.

Its a nice crowd on hand as Furman is set to start the game without Kate Johnson, Tate Walters, and Paraskevi Koilia injured, and Kennedy Grier goes down after a hard foul and is assisted off the court. Sydney Ryan keeps the Paladins up by 2 after the first timeout on the court 8-6 with under 5 minutes to play in the first quarter.

Kennedy Grier reenters the game at the delight of the fans, glad to see she is OK. The Lady Paladins at the end of the first period are leading 11-9, and your stats are Furman has 2 points in the paint, leading scorer Niveya Henley with 6 points, Sydney Ryan with 3 points and a rebound, and Jada Session with 3 rebounds and 2 points. Furman shooting 43% from 3-point range.

The Paladins are playing tough and are in the lead at just under 5 minutes leading 17-15. We come to a media timeout, and we are tied up at 17-17 with 3:59 left in the half. Furman has 8 points in the paint, 33% from 3-point range and 36% from FG range. Henley is still leading in points with 8, Sydney Ryan has 5 points, and Jada Session & Hannah Hansson lead in rebounding with 3 a piece.

We are halftime and the Paladins are up 23-19 as even though shorthanded the Lady Paladins are playing tough and keeping UNC Greensboro off its gameplan. Halftime stats are 10 points in the point, 2 points on second chance, and 2 points off the bench. Furman is shooting 33% from the field, 30 from 3-point range, and 50 from the free throw line. Leading scorer at the half is Niveya Henley with 12 points, 2 rebounds, and 2 for 3 from 3-point range.

First media timeout of the 3rd period and Furman is down 32-34 to the Spartans with 3:35 left in the period. Henley has 18 points now as fouls are causing trouble for the Paladins here in the second half. Session, James, and Henley all have 4 rebounds apiece as we come back to playing ball. We come to the end of the 3rd period and head into the final 10 minutes with the game tied 41-41 apiece. Stats for the game so far are 22 points in the paint, 6 second chance points, 5 points off the bench, 4 points off turnovers, and 1 point off the fast break.

Media timeout and we have a Paladin lead 45-41 with 7:58 left in the game here in Timmons. Niveya Henley is having a career game with 24 points, 6 rebounds, and a steal. Furman is shooting 40% from the field, 25% from 3-point range, and 46% from free throw line. Media timeout with 4:15 left in the game and its Furman 50 UNC-G 49 as we are really being treated to a great game here tonight, We have yet another media timeout and Furman has the lead still 52-49 as we head to the final minutes 3:02 left to go.

It is coming down to the final seconds, Furman ahead 54-53 with under a minute to go. UNC-G gets two quick steals and gets in two shots and its 55-54 Spartans leading with under 30 seconds left in the game. Jada Session to the line with 17 seconds left and she hits the first, and second and its Furman in the lead 56-55. UNC-G will try to make the final shot to win the game here folks. Spartans make the shot and there is 11 seconds on the clock as Furman takes a timeout and will try its best to win the game here. Furman gets the ball in and they throw the ball away and UNC-G gets fouled and its all but over as the Spartans come back to win the game 59-56.
