Furman Splits SoCon Opening Games
The Furman Paladins (13-2, 1-1 SoCon) now after the first two Southern Conference games of the year against first Western Carolina (90-61) New Years Day then UNC Greensboro (9-6, 2-0 SoCon) this past Saturday (84-67) now will travel to The Citadel on Wednesday night at 7pm vs the (5-8, 0-2) Bulldogs at McAlister Field House, before heading home to Bons Secours Wellness Arena for their first SoCon home opener versus Wofford on Saturday at noon!

The Paladins started off New Years at Western Carolina and quickly showed they came to play as 6 Paladins scored in double figures lead by Nick Anderson 20 points and Charles Johnston 17 points. The win marked the best start in Furman Basketball history since 1932 15-1 team while tied Florida and Oklahoma in NCAA Division 1 in wins. The Paladins 29-point win also was the largest win versus the Catamounts in 41 series meetings at Carolina

The Paladins suffered its first loss in 5 games with the loss to UNC Greensboro when Jr. Kenyon Giles was able to match his career high 25 points to defeat the Paladins. The Spartans shot 52.2% from three-point range which Giles went 5 of 6 from while shooting 10-of-13 from the field. The Spartans also made 16 points off of 13 Furman turnovers, while also outscoring Furman in the paint 26-22.
