Furman Softball Schedule Release
Three home tournaments at Pepsi Stadium and 10 games against 2024 NCAA Tournament teams highlight Furman’s 2025 softball schedule, which was released on Wednesday by Paladin head coach Stacey Johnson-Whitfield.
The Paladins are set to play 27 games in the friendly confines of Pepsi Stadium this season, including games against NCAA Tournament participants USC Upstate, Charlotte, and Chattanooga. Furman opens its season hosting South Carolina State, UT Martin, Stonehill, and Evansville in the Paladin Invitational February 6-9 before facing Lipscomb, Harvard, and Georgia Southern in Statesboro, Ga., the following weekend.
After a home doubleheader against Canisius, Furman will welcome Austin Peay, Holy Cross, Morehead State, and Northern Iowa to Greenville for the Furman Classic February 21-23. The eight-game homestand concludes with a doubleheader versus instate rival USC Upstate on February 26.

“I’m looking forward to another challenging schedule this spring,” said Johnson-Whitfield, who had led the Paladins to wins over Mississippi State, Louisville, and Clemson during her three years as head coach. “We have a very young team this year with nine freshmen and five sophomores. Our freshmen will have a big impact and bring new faces to the field. With the loss of a lot of our speed, we will be looking to add power to the lineup. The key this season will be shaping a new identity for Furman softball and building on last year’s successes.”
Alabama will host the Paladins, SIU Edwardsville, and UAB in the T-Mobile Crimson Classic in Tuscaloosa, Ala., the next weekend. Furman returns home to host the Charlotte 49ers on March 5 prior to taking on Gardner-Webb and Youngstown State in the Furman Round Robin March 7-8.
Following trips to Wofford and ETSU to open Southern Conference play, the Paladins entertain UNC Greensboro in a three-game series April 5-6 and defending league champion Chattanooga in a three-game set April 12-13. A seven-game road swing with trips to Samford, Western Carolina, and South Carolina precedes Furman’s final regular season series versus Mercer in Greenville May 3-4.
The 2025 SoCon Softball Championship is scheduled to take play May 7-10 in Spartanburg, S.C.
