Furman Softball in Game 2 Versus Western Carolina in SoCon Opener at Pepsi Stadium
Furman Softball was able to score 3 runs in the 3rd inning and followed that up with a run in the 5th inning to get off to a 4-0 lead while shutting out the rival Catamounts at Pepsi Stadium.
Furman’s Pitching staff did a great job this weekend in keeping the visiting Western Carolina Catamounts in check and out of the win column.
In the 6th inning the Catamounts score a run and will try to make a comeback, but the Lady Paladins have more to give as they get 3 more runs in the 6th to make it 7-1 and extend the lead and head into the final inning looking to sweep the double header and go above .500 for the season and 2-0 in the league. The Paladins go on to win and sweep Western Carolina with a win Sunday and complete the week sweep of both Presbyterian and Western Carolina before heading to Big South power USC Upstate Wednesday night. The Paladins are on a 6-game winning streak and record of 16-14. Furman Joust will be at Cyrill Stadium and will bring the news, notes, and after game interviews.
