The Furman Softball team makes a trip down Hwy123 to face the top ranked Clemson Tigers of the ACC. Furman after a trip to UNC Greensboro in SoCon.

Furman is first on the board when Chiang scores in the top of the second inning off a fielder’s choice and its 1-0 Furman with 2 outs and two on base. Furman then gets another score off a wild pitch and has taken a 2-0 lead over the top ranked Tigers. The second for Clemson has led to a bases loaded and two outs with the score still 2-0. Clemson gets a walk, and the score is now 2-1 still with two outs and bases loaded. Furman is able to get the out and lead Clemson still 2-1 as we head to the third inning.

Furman starts off the third with two hits in a row and no outs and seems tpo have figured out ace pitcher Cagle, and Millie Thompson is in to pitch for Cagle who moves to first. Clemson is able to get out of the inning and we head to the bottom of the third, Furman CF Ashlee Lykins misses a ball diving in the outfield and Clemson has one out and runners on second and third base. Clemson scores on a sacrifice fly ball to right field and its tied 2-2 with 2 outs.

Clemson gets Furman out quick as the Paladins go down 123 and we head to the bottom of the fourth inning with a tied game 2-2. Clemson leaves a runner on base, and we head to the 5th inning with Furman still hanging tough with top ranked Clemson 2-2. Furman goes down 123 in the fifth inning so Clemson will try its best to get the lead heading into the final couple innings.

Furman is not able to get a run after leaving a runner on second. Furman has been able to hold the Tigers to just 4 hits over 5 innings as we head to the bottom of the sixth inning. Clemson is able to get runners on second and third base after a single to right with no outs and Furman is in a pickle with Clemson in scoring position. Clemson is not able to get a run after Furman was able to get two outs throwing the runner out at home, then Fabio gets the last out getting a grounder and throwing to first.

Furman in the top of the seventh gets a error by Clemson and two runs score and Furman takes a 4-2 lead over Clemson and is stunning this huge crowd here in McWhorter Stadium tonight. Clemson is able to get two runners on base with no outs and Scott pitching for Furman who has pitched a great game so far is in trouble. Clemson is able to get a runoff a sacrifice fly and its 4-3 Furman still in the lead with 1 out and a runner on second. Furman gets the second out and now it just needs one more to win this game and surprise the Clemson faithful here tonight. Furman gets the win over Clemson!!
