Furman Paladins Women’s Basketball Heads up I85 to Face Wofford Terriers
The Furman Women’s basketball team (11-7, 1-1 SoCon) takes a small trip up I-85 to take on its state rival in Wofford Terriers (9-7, 1-1 SoCon) in a huge match up of SoCon standings importance. Furman coming off a loss last week to UNC Greensboro and needing to get back to its winning ways.
Furman and Wofford both enter with a 1-1 record in the Southern Conference and tied for fourth place. The Paladins and head coach Pierre Curtis will be out to make statement against Wofford before heading home to have two games versus Samford Thursday and Mercer Saturday.
The game is set, the players are on the court, let’s get the game on the way. Wofford jumps out to a 5-0 lead when Furman is able to get its first points of the game after several back-and-forth turnovers by both sides. It is 8-2 in the first media timeout as Wofford leads the way. Kennedy Grier leads the way with 2 points, and Jada Session has 2 rebounds with 3 others having 1 a piece. It is 1:15 left in the first period and Wofford leads 12-8, Furman is fighting to keep the game close. Furman gets a basket and a foul and its 12-11 with 40 seconds left in the 1st period.
