Furman Paladins Football Homecoming Faces ETSU Bucs at Paladin Stadium
Today at Paladin stadium its homecoming and the fans will pack the stadium for the #3 ranked Paladins!
Furman kickoffs to ETSU and the Bucs throw an interception to #3 Kam Brinson and Furman races to the end zone for a possible touchdown which is called backed due to instant replay and Furman takes it down the field to get a quick Field Goal and the score is 3-0 Paladins.
Furman kicks off to ETSU and is able to hold the Bucs to a few plays and its a punt and Furman takes over at the 20-yard line first down. Furman takes the ball and after a few timely passes is now at the ETSU 34-yard line. The Paladins stall but are able to hit 52-yard field goal and its 6-0 Paladins in the lead.
ETSU takes the kickoff and quickly goes backwards and fights to gain on the stingy Paladins defense. The Paladins are able to hold them once again and take over at the 20 after a penalty on the punt and the Paladins are now heading up the field with a huge run by Roberto who gets them to the 31-yard line. ETSU was able to get a few good stops and Furman will now punt away. ETSU will take over at the 20-yard line with first down and 80 yards to go to get back in this game. It’s the end of the first quarter and its 6-0 Furman over ETSU.
Furman is able to hold ETSU and its time to punt for the Bucs, and Furman will take over at the 6-yard line after two back and forth 5-yard penalties. The Paladins get a few first downs and its now 3rd and long after a huge holding penalty. The Paladins are able to get to the 35-yard line and its fourth down and they will punt away to the ETSU 19-yard line. Furman is able to keep ETSU from getting a first down and ETSU is once again having to punt, as the Paladins get the ball at 26-yard line with 4:50 left in the first half. Furman takes the ball and is unable to get a first down also as this has turned into a defense battle as neither offense can seem to move the ball today, ETSU will take over at the 18-yard line after a good punt by Furman. The half ends 6-0 and we are watching a very interesting defensive battle between these two teams.
Furman comes out the half and after 1 first down they have to once again kick away and ETSU will start at the 10-yard line working right to left on the field. The Bucs on a huge trick play get down to the Paladin 32-yard line and the Dins will have to come up huge on this series to stop them from scoring. Furman gets a huge sack and now its 3rd and ten with a time out by ETSU. After a huge penalty that took ETSU back 10 yards they are able to get some of it back to get the field goal team a shot, but the kick is blocked and ran back the 45 by Jack Barton.
The Paladins throw a huge deep pass caught by #82 for 46 yards down to the ETSU 9-yard line. Furman is able to get the field goal and its 9-0 after ETSU holds Furman out of the end zone. Furman after kicking the ball to ETSU is able to get a huge interception by #14 and Furman takes over.
Furman hits a huge touchdown pass and #2 Harris and Furman is now up 16-0 with 46 seconds left in the 3rd quarter. The paladins on the kickoff catch the ETSU return man not watching the ball and the ball never goes to the end zone and get ETSU on the 3-yard line. ETSU was able to get a big run on the first play and the ball now is on the 25-yard line as we head to the 4th quarter with Furman leading 16-0.
Furman is able to once again hold the Bucs offense and they have to punt away and takes over at the 27-yard line. Furman is unable to do anything with the ball and will kick away and the punt is blocked and a touchdown as the shutout is over and ETSU will go for two points here as we have a timeout. ETSU gets the two-point conversion and its 16-8 with 11:53 left in the game.
Furman takes the ball after the kickoff and finally gets a first down after a few series of stalling down. Furman gets yet another first down and is finally moving the ball again. Furman is held and has to punt away to ETSU as the ball will be spotted at the 13-yard line. ETSU has taken the ball and is marching down the field after 3 first downs and the ball is at the 41-yard line now. Furman gets a huge stop and ETSU will have to punt back to Furman, Furman will take the ball over at the half yard line and will face a real bad decision not to take the ball and run with it. Furman is not able to get far and has to punt away with ETSU taking over on the 43-yard line of Furman. Furman holds on 3rd down and now its 4th down and the Paladins hold with a sack by #43 of Furman, Furman takes over on downs.
Furman takes the ball and is going to try and just run out the clock, as ETSU uses its last time out to hold the Paladins and its 3rd and 2. Furman gets the first down and Furman will win this game as they will do the victory formation.
