Furman Men’s Soccer Faces Davidson at Seagraves Field
The Paladins (4-2-1) come into tonight’s match up after a 1-1 draw with College of Charleston last Tuesday rested for the game versus the Wildcats of Davidson (5-1-1) 2-0-0 in the Atlantic 10 beating Georgia Washington and also a win over SoCon Favorite UNC Greensboro.
Davidson strikes first when #9Denis Krioutchenkov gets one in at the 22-minute mark and its 1-0 Wildcats over the Paladins in the first half. Already Davidson has had 6 shots on goal against the Paladins who have 4 SOG.
We are at the half and the Paladins was able to match the shots on goal ending with 8-8 tie but still trails the Wildcats 1-0. The Wildcats had 12 fouls to the Paladins 2, Wildcats had 4 corner kicks to the Paladins 2. The Wildcats goalie Lou Liedtka had 5 saves on goal while Paladin’s goalie Aaron Salinas had 1 save for the half.
The second half starts off with Davidson getting the score when #29 Nicholas Cavallo gets a shot in goal and its 2-0 in the 34th minute. Davidson gets another shot in goal when #10 Vincent Bennage scores and its 3-0 with 28 minutes left in the game.
Furman finally gets a goal #10 Dylan Lane with an assist from #22 Christian Kraus and #2 Josh Hosie to make the game 3-1 in the 18th minute left in the game. Furman at this point has 13 shots on goal to Davidson’s 12 in the game..
With only four minutes left in the game and several subs in the score is still 3-1 with Davidson leading the game. Furman has been battling in the Wildcats side of the field but has yet to get another goal with a 15-12 SOG lead. The game ends with Furman not being able to overcome a speedy Davidson team and loses 3-1.
