Furman Men’s Basketball handles Bob Jones at home, improves to 5-5 for the season

The Furman Paladins welcomed Bob Jones University into Timmons Arena for Sunday afternoon non-conference NCAA Men’s Basketball action.

The Paladins (5-5) easily dispatched the National Christian Collegiate Athletic Association (Or, NCCAA) member Bruins, 100-58. With three Paladins scoring 18 points or more, including a career high 31 points from forward Alex Williams, Furman simply ran over Bob Jones from the opening tip on, outscoring the Bruins 47-25 in the first half and 53-33 in the second half.

As touched on above, Furman forward Alex Williams led the Paladins with 31 points while guard JP Pegues added a double double with 21 points and 12 assists. Guard Pjay Smith, Pegues’ fellow starter in the backcourt, added 18 points of his own for Furman. Paladin forward Tyrese Hughey led the way for Furman on the boards, snagging 15 total rebounds in the contest.

Bruins guard Devin Pope led Bob Jones with 16 points, while forward Kennedy Garrick Jr. added 11 points for his part.
