Furman Women’s Soccer made the trip to Charleston Sothern to face the Buccaneers in the opening match of the season. The Women team went 1-1 in the preseason and looks to start off the year versus a in state foe.

Furman gives up a goal early in the eighth minute and makes the game 0-1 in favor of the Bucs. Furman has to answer before the half to show its not going to let this game get out of hand.

We go into halftime with the score 0-1 still in favor of the Bucs, yet when we come out in the 62nd minute the Paladins get on the board when Jenny Jacobson scores the first goal of the season with a assist from Mosquera and we are all tied up at 1-1. Furman has answered and is now got the excitement back in hopes it leads to yet another goal. The defense is doing its job in holding Charleston Southern since the early goal in the first half.

Furman’s defense though is unable to keep the Lady Buc’s in check as they score a goal in the 74th minute and its 1-2, with time running out on the Paladins.

Then just when you think its over, Jenny Jacobson scores another huge goal and it’s tied at 2-2. This game has some great drama as both are giving everyone a show on determination to win,

Furman gets to the 87th minute and another huge goal by Tara Katz puts Furman ahead 3-2 and Furman Nation is loving it. The fans in attendance have seen these ladies fight back each time to now be in the lead with just minutes left to play.

Furman holds on and gets the win 3-2 over Charleston Southern, and now the next stop is South Carolina on Sunday night at 7pm. Make sure to come done to USC and support your Furman Women’s Soccer team as they take on the #14 ranked Gamecocks.
