Furman draws #7 seed, first round bye in FCS Playoffs

The Furman Paladins drew the 7th overall seed in the NCAA’s FCS Football Playoffs and received a first round bye. The news was announced during the FCS selection show on Sunday afternoon.

The Paladins had been expecting to snag a much higher seed prior to Saturday’s setback in Spartanburg, SC against Wofford. The 19-13 loss was the Paladins first Southern Conference loss in 413 days, with their last conference loss coming at the hands of Samford on October 1st, 2022.

As mentioned above, the Paladins will receive a bye from the first round directly into the round of 16. Furman will then face the winner of Chattanooga and Austin Peay at home in Paladin Stadium in Greenville, SC, for the right to advance to the quarterfinals. The time and date of the playoff game have yet to be announced.
