Furman Coach Hendrix Named for National Award
Coach Clay Hendrix was named 2023 AFCA Region 2 Coach of the year today by the American Football Coaches Association the organization announced today.
Hendrix joins Sheridan, Satterfield, Johnson among past Furman Honorees as 5 other regional coach of the year selections for FCS. AFCA also will announce a division 2 & 3, NAIA coaches that will be honored on Tuesday Jan. 9th, during the 2024 AFCA Convention in Nashville, Tenn.
Hendrix now in his seventh season has guided Furman to a 10-2 record, and heads to Montana for round three in the FCS playoffs after beating UT Chattanooga last Saturday 26-7. Hendrix has taken his team to its second straight 10-win season, while this is his 4th playoff appearance with Hendrix as coach.
