Furman Paladins Men’s Basketball Battle Coastal Carolina In Round 2 Bout
Tonight the Furman Paladins Men’s Basketball team will go into round two of the Myrtle Beach Invitational versus the Coastal Carolina Chanticleers as Furman’s Bob Richey will face off versus former Clemson Coach Cliff Ellis.

We are now ready for the battle of these two top teams in basketball and Coastal wins the toss. The game is face paced and is now 6-3 Coastal over Furman. A huge block on Foster by Coastal but he gets the ball back and scores and its 9-5.
Furman comes out of the official time out and is behind 12-11 with 14:12 left in the first half. Furman is definitely playing with a better energy and keeping up with the fast-paced Coastal team.
Bowser gets to go to the line to put Furman in the lead and its 17-16 Furman with 11 minutes left in the half. The crowd is into it as Furman seems to have as many as Coastal does at the game tonight. The energy from the fans has the Paladins guys really pumped up, as they are up 20-18 with now 9 minutes left in the half. Furman with 6 minutes to go is now in the lead 25-20 and has the ball on an out.
This heavyweight battle is really getting physical down low, and the shooters are having to be on point as the score with 3:56 left in the first half 30-26. The foul on Coastal puts Furman at the line and the first is made, the second also so it’s now 32-26 Paladins in the lead. The Paladins get Coastal to take a time out as they go on a great little run, it’s now 39-29 as Foster has led the Paladins, with Garrett Hien now on fire with a basket and a foul and he gets it in. We go into the half 39-31 Furman leads Coastal Carolina and Marcus Foster leads the Paladins in scoring 15, 1 rebound, and an assist for the game.
The Paladins go into a media timeout 48-38 over Coastal Carolina with 15:46 left in the game, Foster with 17, Pegues with 12 points, Whitt has 7 rebounds. Coastal trying to get back in this game it’s now 48-52 after a foul shot for Coastal as Furman has the ball and Foster is fouled and is heading to the line. Carter Whitt is playing lights out on rebounds and scoring 6 back-to-back 3’s and with 11:47 left in the game its Furman leading 57-50.
We go into a Media timeout and the score is 67-60 with Furman still in the lead, Furman has made 6 of its last 7 shots, Whitt 11 points and 7 rebounds, Foster has 22 points 2 rebounds Pegues with 12 points 2 rebounds and 3 assists. Furman is trying to hold on to this game with under 8 minutes to go. The score is now 67-65 at the media timeout and Furman is having to withstand the onslaught from Coastal as the Chants are doing their best to battle back to get a win.
Here we go folks the final 6 minutes of the game and Markus Foster hits a huge 3 and its now 72-67. The players are really flying around the court as the Paladins get a score and a foul Markus Foster gets it in. 75-67 Furman battling to hold on to this game. Another media timeout and its Furman with the lead still with under 4 minutes to go, 28 points for Markus Foster, Carter Whitt 13 points and 8 rebounds, score 75-67.
Coastal takes a timeout as Furman was able to get another score 77-71 with under 3 minutes left to play. Carter Whitt once again is setting a career performance and gets a 3 pointer; the game is getting to be a back and forth scoring Furman has the lead 84-76 with under a minute to go. Coastal gets another foul and sends Furman to the line, Pegues gets the first one in, and the next one 86-78 with a timeout and 9 seconds its 88-80 Furman in the lead. its over 89-80 Furman gets the huge win tonight.
