Furman Men’s Soccer faces Presbyterian at Seagraves Field
The Furman Paladins Men’s Soccer (7-3-2) is at home tonight defending their home field advantage versus the Presbyterian Blue Hoes (5-7-1) looking to strengthen their win total for the year. The game with 30 minutes left in the first half has been a feeling out process, both teams driving the ball down only to get stopped by a great defensive play to clear the ball. Presbyterian strikes first on a penalty kick at the 23-minute mark when #9 Damorney Hutchinson gets the goal and its 1-0.
Furman at the 3-minute mark left to go in the first half gets a goal when #7 Lloyd Wamu Snell nails it in after a corner kick and two assist and its 1-1 Furman ties it up. The Paladins have had 7 shots on goal but that one makes it past the Blue Hoes goalie.
The halftime stats are Furman with 2 Corner Kicks, 11 fouls with one yellow card, with 8 shots on goal, assist on the goal made by #4 Tommy Redhead and #17 Caleb Johnson. The second half is on the way as we head into the second half.
Presbyterian comes out first and scores with 43 minutes in the half left when #24 scores, and its 2-1 Blue Hoes taking the lead. The Paladins get a score with 24 minutes to go in the half when #22 Christian Kraus nails a score with #6 Ivan Agyaakwah and #17 Caleb Johnson as the score is tied 2-2. The Paladins need to get a score to secure this game with a great crowd on hand to cheer them on.
The score is still 2-2 with 6 minutes remaining as it’s been a back-and-forth battle between these two teams on the field tonight. The Paladins have been in a battle tonight as Presbyterian has not given up on its upset chances on the field. The game ends with Paladins getting a shot but is stopped. A great game for both teams.
