Paladins Face Spartans in Double Header

Furman Softball
The Furman Paladins Softball (5-9) face off with the USC Upstate Spartans (13-1) in a huge double header for the Paladin Softball team as the end of the non-conference schedule is rapidly approaching. Furman has on the mound Senior Lauralee Scott (2-1) with a 2.24 era in 6 appearances, facing USC Upstate Sophomore Sierra Maness (5-0) with a 2.36 era in 10 appearances.
The Spartans strike first and get a run in on the board and lead 1-0 after the first, then get another run in the 4th inning, before scoring 2 more in the 6th inning off Scott who gave up 8 hits, and 4 runs with 1 error in the game. The Paladins was able to get a run in the 6th and its now 4-1 as we head to the final inning of the game baring a comeback by Furman.
USC Upstate in the 7th inning is able to add 2 more scores with 10 hits against the Paladins as the Paladins are only able to get one more hit, and loose 6-1 in 7 innings.
Game 2
The Paladins come out in the second game hoping to get back in the win column, but as in the first game the Spartans get the first run on the board. Furman though gets the bats going and gets two runs on the board and take the lead 2-1 in the second. USC Upstate then score 4 more runs with one in the third and three in the fourth inning to go ahead 5-3 after Furman was able to get one run in the third.
The Spartans in the top of the sixth inning get three runs and extend the lead to 8-3 as Furman has committed 5 errors in the game to the Spartans one. The Paladins in the 7th inning get a run on but are unable to get the win and its 8-3.
