The Furman Paladins (2-0) welcome the Jacksonville Dolphins (1-1) to the BSWA tonight in a meeting between teams that have not played each other since 2012. The Dolphins hold a 8-7 edge over the Paladins all time and want to extend their streak to 2 in a row. The Paladins will be with SoCon player of the week PJay Smith back in action for his second game in a row, but first at the Well this year.

The Paladins coming off a dramatic win versus the Bruins of Belmont on Friday night 76-74 when PJay Smith hit a huge 3 pointer to secure the win. Furman now wants to get the streak to 3 before entertaining Tulane on the 15th at the Well. We are just about ready for tonight’s matchup to start, we will bring you news at each half tonight, as a live game feed.

Jacksonville has a 21-20 lead at the 7:48 mark in the first half coming out of a media timeout. Furman has had several key turnovers and is shooting 50% from 3-point range and 4 steals and 9 rebounds so far in the game. The media timeout on the court with 3:45 left in the first half and the Paladins trail 29-26 in the game with Johnston and Hein leading the Paladins with 7 points apiece.

Halftime stats: Furman shooting 43% from FG, 37% from 3-point range, 25% from FT, Charles Johnston leads all scorers with 10 points. Robert House with 8. Furman with 3 points off turnovers, 10 in the paint, 3 on fast breaks, and 20 points off the bench. Media timeout with 15:20 left in the game and Garrett Hien has matched his career best 12 rebounds and Furman trails 40-41 against Jacksonville.

Furman takes the lead when House is fouled and gets them to a 42-41 lead with 13:45 left in the game. Paladins playing much better here in the second half and making better passes while also shooting better. The Paladins are now at the media break with a timeout in the action and are leading 47-41 and the fans are now really getting into the game. Jacksonville has been fouling a bit more and Furman has finally took advantage of it. Charles Johnston is going off with a 15 point performance so far with Robert House with 13 also so far in the game.

Media timeout and the Paladins are still ahead 51-43 with just under 8 minutes left in the game. Furman is on a 14-2 run over the last 7 minutes in the game and is really giving the crowd a great game. Jacksonville is playing tough defense but is now in foul trouble as Furman shoots a one and one and drains both shots and its a 10-point lead. Furman has pulled out to a 61-48 lead and is really taking control of this game.

media timeout and Charles Johnston is having a great game so far with 20 points with 3 rebounds and is helping lead Furman to a 64-48 lead over visiting Jacksonville tonight. The game is now a minute away from the end and Furman leads 74-60 over the Dolphins of Jacksonville.

We have a minute left and Jacksonville is trying to make a comeback on Furman, yet is fouling to keep time on the clock, Furman is heading to the line with PJay Smith shooting and he gets one in 76-66 Furman still leading. Time out Furman with 38 seconds left on the clock. The game is over, and Furman has 78-69!
