Furman Faces VMI in SoCon Battle
Furman Men’s soccer (5-3-2, 0-1-0 SoCon) plays host to VMI Keydets (5-6-2, 0-2-0) at Stone Stadium in a battle in the Southern Conference. Both teams are wanting to get their first SoCon victory of this season and improve for the up-and-coming SoCon tourney.

Furman hits the first goal of the game in the first 5 minutes of the game when #5 Slade Starnes hits the goal with the assist from #6 Ivan Agyaakwah, the lead is 1-0 Furman. VMI with 13 minutes left in the half gets a goal and we are tied 1-1 after #9 Grant Martain hits it in.

Furman answers back with 12 minutes left when #9 Lloyd Wamu Snell lands it in the net when the goalie blocked it off another shot. The game stays the same till the end of the half as Furman takes a 2-1 lead into halftime. Halftime stats are as follows: Furman had 16 shots on goal, 1 corner kick, 2 saves, and 3 fouls in the first half of play,

The two teams come back from halftime as the fans in attendance cheer the Paladins on. Furman with 20 minutes left gets a much-needed goal as #23 Wesley Siegel with a assist from #9 Lloyd Wamu Snell as Furman takes the 3-1 lead after having 22 shots on goal so far in the game. Senior night has turned into a great night for the fans of the Paladins. Coach Allison has really had his team working on the VMI side of the field all night, just coming up short on some of the opportunities given.

The Paladins get yet another score as #22 Christian Kraus gets the goal assisted by #10 Diego Hernandez and the lead is now 4-1 Paladins with 12:28 left in the match. The match will end with Furman getting the 4-1 win.
