Furman Paladins (0-2) on the year welcomes in the Stetson Hatters (2-0) to Paladin Stadium for today’s 2pm kickoff. Furman is coming off a disappointing loss to Charleston Southern last week 24-20, while Stetson won versus Warner 35-0.

Stetson wins the toss and gets the ball first, and Stetson gets the ball moving before an interception Billy Lewis #21 and the Paladins get the ball at the 43-yard line. Paladins get a quick first down with new starting QB Trey Hedden and the Paladins are moving the ball quickly. Hedden has got the team running smoothly so far on this first series as a starter. Furman gets a great run and its first and goal Paladins at the 1-yard line, touchdown Paladins and it 7-0 Furman in the lead with 10:15 left in the first quarter. This was the first touchdown against the Hatters this season, and Furman has got the fans excited.

Stetson gets the ball back and after a huge sack by Furman its 3rd down and the Paladins will get a roughing the passer and give the Hatters a first down. Furman holds the Hatters to once again a 3rd down, and the Hatters hit a huge play and are down on the Paladins 22-yard line. First and goal after yet another roughing the passer play. Furman is gonna have to hold strong against this high-powered offense. Furman holds strong and its 4th down and the field goal unit is out and its blocked and the Paladins take over at the 20-yard line. The Paladins #95 Joshua Stoneking gets the hand up and blocks the kick.

Furman takes over and they have just under 6 minutes in the first quarter here to work with, but the Paladins can’t move the ball and punt away. The Hatters start first and ten at the 33yard line. its 3rd down again and the Hatters throw a bomb, and it’s picked off but flag on the play. Pass interference on Furman and the Hatters will get the ball first and ten on the 48-yard line. Its third down again for the Hatters, and they throw incomplete, and the Paladins will get the ball back with 3 minutes left in the game.

Furman takes over and starts moving the ball and its now 3rd down at the 25-yard line, and the Paladins take a time out. The come out and a huge pass play down field and a flag is down, its defensive holding and first down Paladins. It is third down again and a long way, Furman drops the ball and its fourth down. Paladins kick the ball and Stetson takes over at the 30-yard line. The end of the first quarter and Furman leads 7-0 over Stetson as we head to the 2nd quarter.

Stetson gets a great run play, but right after that a huge loss in the backfield by Furman, its third down and Furman nails the QB as he throws it away, 4th down and the Paladins use their final timeout with 13:10 left in the game. The Hatters come out looking like they are going for it; they punt the ball and it’s out of the endzone and Furman takes over at the 20-yard line. Furman gets the ball running but stalls at the 39 rd line and punts away to Stetson, and down the ball at the 2-yard line.

Stetson will do their best to get out of the endzone area, its third down after 2 no gain runs, Stetson get to the nine-yard line and its fourth down as the Hatters will Punt away. Furman takes over at the 33-yard line, but a sack takes them back to the 40-yard line. trey Hedden, gets a huge fake pass and runs the ball to the 30-yard line to set them up for a field goal. The kick is up and is good and Furman takes a 10-0 lead over the Hatters of Stetson with 6:48 left in the half.

Stetson gets the ball back but throws a quick interception and Furman takes over at the 38-yard line on their side of the field. Furman throws an interception also, but a flag is down and its interference on the defense, so Furman gets the first down on the 47-yard line. Trey Hedden hits a huge Touchdown pass to #3 Ben Ferguson and Furman goes up 17-0 over the visiting Stetson Hatters with 3:39 left in the half.

Furman with a chance to get the ball back, has a pass interference and its first down Hatters on the 45-yard line. The Furman Paladins give up the first down on the Paladins 40-yard line, two-minute warning 17-0 Paladins over the Hatters of Stetson. The Hatters have 4th and ten and the offense stays on the field. and they don’t get the first down. Furman comes out and throws a side route and gets to the 50-yard line and its 3rd down already, and Furman throws a touchdown pass to Joshua Harris #2 gets the pass from #8 Trey Hedden. Furman now is up 24-0 with 59 seconds left in the half. Furman has really exploded in the first half.

We go to halftime with Furman ahead 24-0 over the Stetson Hatters we head into halftime.

Furman comes out after halftime and gets a huge pass play, and they are already down at the 32-yard line of Stetson and then the next play Trey Hedden fakes out the defense and runs the ball in for a touchdown and Furman goes ahead 31-0 over the Hatters.

Stetson gets the ball back and is unable to get a first down and the punter kicks a awesome punt back to the Furman 16-yard line. Furman starts off with a shuttle pass for a yard and its second down. Furman hits a huge first down pass to #15 Brock Chappel and then Furman hits another pass for a first down and the ball is on the 48. Furman hits yet another first down pass and the ball is on the 38-yard line. Furman hits a huge pass to #3 and its 4th down and 11, Furman takes a timeout and will decide to punt or kick a field goal. A school record field goal has been set for 57 yards by Ian Williams. The Paladins 34-0 over the Hatters with 5:25 left in the 3rd quarter, Stetson takes over on the 25-yard line.

Stetson gets the ball and is unable to get a first down after a penalty backs the ball up and they kick away and Furman starts on their 34-yard line. Carson Jones enters the game and quickly nails a pass for a first down and Furman takes over at the 47-yard line of Stetson. Carson hits another huge first down pass as the Paladins are marching down the field. Carson throws a huge Touchdown pass #2 Joshua Harris and its 41-0 Paladins over the Hatters with 1 minute left in the game.

Stetson gets the ball back but has a interception by Furman #21 Billy Lewis and Furman takes over at the 43 of Stetson as we head into the 4th quarter. Furman has done great this afternoon even with the pass interference calls they have played tough and made huge plays to keep Stetson out of the end zone. Furman now on their way to the end zone and have it first down at the 12-yard line. Carson throws an incomplete pass to avoid the sack, 2nd and ten and it’s a running touchdown by #33 Gavin Hall and it’s a 12-yard TD, and the score is 48-0 Furman over Stetson.

Stetson takes the ball and is pounding away against a 3rd string defensive front of freshman players who are now getting some much-needed snaps. Stetson gets another first down and have the ball in Furman territory at the 35-yard line. Stetson misses a wide-open receiver over the middle for a touchdown. Stetson misses another TD pass as the receiver drops the ball in the end zone. Pass interference call on Furman and it saves Stetson from not making the fourth down. Stetson misses another TD pass, but a replay shows a TD so its timeout by Stetson to have it reviewed. Stetson loses the review but gets the TD on the next play and we are now at 48-7.

Furman doesn’t get a first down so punts away the ball. Stetson takes over at the 20-yard line and gets a running play out to the 42-yard line. Stetson has a third and nine and throws it incomplete to the WR and they will punt away. Furman #1 Ethan Harris runs it back to the 41 of Stetson and Furman takes over with just under 5 minutes left in the game. Furman is taking the ball right down the field first down on the 28-yard line. Gavin Hall is having a great day as he gets yet another first down to the 13-yard line. Furman’s Gavin Hall runs to the 2-yard line and its first and goal and they take a knee. and Furman wins 48-7 over Stetson.
