Furman Women’s Lacrosse Welcomes Virginia Tech to Paladin Stadium
Furman Paladins Lacrosse hits the field today after a brutal west coast game with Oregan Ducks, now facing the ACC Virginia Tech Hokies here at Paladin Stadium.
Furman gives up the first goal of the game to the Hokies and we get a 1-0 game in the first few minutes, but Furman gets its own goal right after when #20 Roser gets the goal and ties the score 1-1. Furman then gets another goal by #15 Shaw and Furman goes up 2-1 and is playing strong here in the first period. Virginia Tech then goes down and ties it up and makes it a 2-2 game and Furman is tied up again as the Hokies battle back in the game. Virginia Tech then goes straight down again and get yet another goal making it 3-2 taking the lead again from the Paladins.
Virginia Tech with a little over 4 minutes left gets another goal and its now 4-2 Hokies over Furman and this is not looking good at this moment, but Furman has been a 2nd period team all year, so they are not out of this game yet. Viginia Tech will add another score before the period ends, so we head to period 2 with Furman down three 2-5 is our score.
Virginia Tech opens up the second period with a score and its 6-2 Hokies with 14:31 left in the period. Hokies add another goal in less than a minute and now it is 7-2 Hokies as they start to pull away from Furman. Virginia Tech has scored yet again, and we have a goalie change for Furman as they are behind 8-2. Then Ana Roser #20 gets another score and pulls the Paladins within 5 as its now 8-3 with 12 minutes left.
Hokies when the draw yet again and head down the field, scoring a goal and Hokies 9-3 over the Paladins. Hokies get another goal and its timeout Furman as the score is 10-3 with 10 minutes left in the game. Ana Roser gets a huge goal and is helping keep Furman in this game at 4-10 with the Hokies leading with just under 8 minutes left. Hokies get the ball and go right down and score on Furman making it 11-4 with 6 minutes remaining in the first half. Furman falls behind from yet another goal and its 13-4 Hokies right here before the half. Furman gets a huge goal with 3 minutes left and its now 13-5 #15 Shaw gets a huge goal.
Hokies answer and its back to a 9-point lead with Furman trailing 5-14 with under two minutes to go. Hokies add on to the lead right before halftime with a 15-5 lead over Furman.
Furman comes out of halftime and gets two quick scores by #7 and its 15-7 and the comeback has started by Furman hoping to get the deficit down quickly and get back in this game. Whatever Coach Lauren has said at halftime has worked, as Furman is really applying the pressure now. Hokies come back and with 9:14 in the 3rd period make the score 16-7.
Furman after getting down 11 has drawn to 8-18 as we start the 4th period of play with 12 minutes left in the game. Furman is able to get another score and is now within 9 of Virginia Tech as its 18-9 with 6:50 left in the game.
Hokies get another goal and its now 19-9 with under 4 minutes and Furman is running out of time to get back in this game. Tech is able to get one last goal before it’s over and Furman Lacrosse falls 20-9.
