Furman Travels to Clemson in Men’s Soccer Preseason Game
Tonight, the Furman Paladins get to face off versus it’s in-state rivals in Clemson in Men’s Soccer at Historic Riggs Field. The Paladins come into the game after a preseason win versus Lees-McRae 1-0, now facing the #9 team in the nation Clemson Tigers. The Game starts out with both teams taking shots at each other’s players, pretty chippie. Well, after a very physical first half its 0-0 here in Clemson as we will start the second half tied with the #9 Tigers. (Game Thread)
So we have the start of the second half on the way in this match, and with 35 minutes to go Furman has one shot on goal, and Clemson has 2. The Paladins goalie saves another shot on goal, and we are still tied in this game. Clemson once again has a great shot on goal and misses to the right as the starting Clemson lineup is in the game the second half. With 10 minutes to go Furman is holding on to being down just 1-0, and adding subs in to keep the fresh legs on the field.
Furman get very lucky with an offsides call late that keeps Clemson from having a runaway goal. Clemson leads with 6 shots on goal to 4 for Furman. Furman gets a great chance on goal by #5 but misses by a foot. Clemson with less than a minute left is able to get a goal and its 2-0 and the fans have something to cheer about here at historic Riggs Field. The game ends 2-0 over the Paladins.
